Your first Asakusa walk: read the street before rushing through it
Kaminarimon, Nakamise and Senso-ji: a simple way to understand the route and leave room for a personal discovery.

Asakusa is easier to enjoy when you give the main approach a little context. Use this short guide as a starting point, not a race to collect landmarks.

Start with the main approach
Kaminarimon is Senso-ji’s main entrance gate. Beyond it, Nakamise runs for about 250 metres to Hozomon. It is a temple approach as well as a shopping street: the stalls and the place of worship share the same route.

Make three small stops
First, take in the gate from a spot that leaves room for other visitors. Next, choose one detail to notice along Nakamise: a shop sign, a seasonal decoration or a design on a souvenir. Finally, continue toward the temple and follow the signs and staff guidance in the grounds.
This is an editorial suggestion, not a timed itinerary. Crowds, weather and your own pace change how long a walk takes.
Choose a souvenir after you have looked around
Instead of buying the first thing you see, think about what you would like to remember. A colour, a word or a familiar scene can be a useful starting point. For clothing, compare the actual measurements rather than relying on a size letter alone.
Plan the practical part separately
Temple visiting information and individual shop opening hours are different things. Check the official temple website and the store you want to visit on the day. SPARKLE’s current Asakusa store information is maintained on the company website.
